             Ecology & Biodiversity Conservation Division

 Project Title :  Development of Ecologically Viable and Socio-economically Acceptable Integrated Model for Arresting Willow (Salix sp.) Mortality in Lahaul Valley of Himachal Pradesh.

 Principle Investigator : Dr. K.S. Kapoor

 Duration : 2003-2008

 Objectives:

  • To understand the basic ecology and site characteristic of the area and assessment of site-specific problem of the valleys.
  • Holistic assessment of immediate causes of mortality.
  • To screen planting stock of Salix as collected from various sources in the nursery on long-term basis.
  • To raise demonstration plantation of the screened clones for making the system ecologically viable.
