Project Title:  Comparative studies on the ecology of degraded forests viz.-a-viz. relatively undisturbed forests in different eco-climatic zones of the region.

Principle Investigator: Dr. R.K. Verma

Duration: 2000-2005

Objectives:

    • To study and to assess the immediate causes of degradation of identified forests.
    • To conduct general ecological survey in the degraded as well as relatively undisturbed forests for knowing the vegetation characteristics of the identified sites.
    • To take up introductory trials of the selected tree species for standardizing model for eco-restoration of degraded forests.
    • Periodic assessment of various growth parameters of plants as planted out in the degraded forests.
    •  To evaluate change in the ground flora and also to assess the changes in chemical properties of soil for developing suitable and site specific models.
